European stocks closed in negative territory on Wednesday, with the Stoxx Europe 600 index dropping 0.86% to 474.40. Here is a breakdown of the performance of major indices:

CAC 40 Index

The French CAC 40 index declined 1.58% to 7,411.86.

DAX Index

The German DAX declined 1.38% to 16,538.39.

FTSE 100 Index

The FTSE 100 index fell 0.51% to 7,682.33.

Among the constituents of the Stoxx Europe 600 index, Auto1 Group SE saw the largest drop, with shares tumbling by 11.8%. Other notable declines include Alstom S.A., VAT Group AG, Ashmore Group PLC, and Carnival PLC.

On the positive side, A.P. Moeller-Maersk A/S Series B experienced the largest increase among the Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, with shares rising by 5.1%. Novartis AG and Delivery Hero SE also gained significantly.

Currency and Commodities

The pound increased by 0.17% against the dollar, while the euro decreased by 0.28%. Brent crude rose by 2.77% to $77.99.

Gilt and Bund Yields

The yield on the 10-year gilt fell by 0.56 basis points to 3.640%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund declined by 4.580 basis points to 2.02%.
